Does your hand feel stinging after handling all those chilies and peppers? Here are some easy remedies to help soothe your hand from the pepper burn.
- Oil: Rub a tablespoon of olive oil (or vegetable oil) all over your hands for about a minute, then wash them out with soap and water. The oil helps to dissolve the capsaicin in the chili,
- Whole milk or yogurt: Soak your hand in the milk or yogurt until the burning sensation stops. Chili pepper is more soluble in fats and oils thus helping to stop the burn.
- Baking soda paste: Mix a thick paste of baking soda and water and apply it directly to your hands until it dries before washing off.
